November 22, 1963- A Sad Day in Our Country's History

The Sixth Floor Window where
Lee Harvey Oswald shot from
killing President John F Kennedy in 1963

Today we took my Daddy to Dallas to visit the Sixth Floor Museum. Apparently this was a place he had wanted to visit for a long time as he loves studying about history and he had mentioned this to my son-in-law at some point. So we all loaded up and went and spent the morning learning about a big piece of our country's history. This was a very interesting museum but was sad as well. Just walking thru there and knowing that this was the same building where Lee Harvey Oswald had been when he shot President Kennedy sent a few chills down my spine. Although I was not born in 1963 when this tragic event happened, I realize that we lost a great president who was just getting started and would have probably done some amazing things for our country. What a sad and tragic time it was for our country and the Kennedy family. Although the museum had a rule that you could not take any photos inside, I did manage to get a few photos outside once we left. Daddy took us over and showed us the famous "grassy knoll" where they suspect another sniper had been, and I got pictures of the window on the 6th floor where Lee Harvey Oswald was supposedly sitting. It's funny that as a kid in school I HATED history, but now as I get older I can't seem to learn enough about history. It is all so interesting to me now.

Downtown Greenville, Texas

I spent the afternoon today checking out downtown Greenville. I did not grow up in Greenville and in fact I do not even currently live in Greenville, but I do work in this nice town and I discovered it has some pretty interesting things downtown if you just take the time to open your eyes and LOOK around. Thought I would share some of what I saw today on my adventure.

Finally got to make a quick trip to visit little Brayden this week. He has grown sooooo much!! I can't believe he is already 6 monthes old and is CRAWLING!!! Plus he has 2 teeth now too!! His mommy says he is into everything and she cant hardly keep up with him.

More Photos from a Geocaching Day

I chased this cool butterfly all up and down a road while Tony was digging in the weeds risking life and limb for a cache....LOL. I think I got the better cache here though with my picture! Then after a long day of caching guess what happens.......You guessed it.......our COMPASS got a FLAT!!!

Another New Hobby- GEOCHACHING

Well, I have found yet another new hobby to take up my 3 days off every week. I know.....just what I didn't need!!! But it is alot of fun and even Tony is having a blast with this hobby. We have begun the art of "geocaching" or treasure hunting. So far we have not found anything really "worth" anything, but we figure the "true treasure" is being able to get out and learn more about our area and the history that goes along with it. Plus I am getting some cool photos which is what started all this in the first place! I just wished I had discovered all these fun, new hobbies when I was not working full time!!!

Checking out Corpus Christi

We only had 1 afternoon to check out Corpus Christi and we were so tired but we did enjoy the few hours we spent there. After visiting the aquarium, then Tony and I drove down to the harbor. The boats that are docked here are all so beautiful and there were all kinds and sizes! We found a REALLY NEAT Joe's Crab Shack to have a late lunch at. It sat out over the water in the harbor. It was a 2 story Joe's Crab Shack with an elevator. How neat is that!!!! We also saw Selena's beautiful statue that was over looking out across the harbor. For those who don't know who Selena is, she was an amazing Tejano singer/entertainer who was from Corpus Christi. Her manager of her fan club (I believe) shot her and killed her at a motel there in CC several years ago. She was a wonderful singer and is dearly missed by her fans.

Texas State Aquarium Corpus Christi

I am finally back to my "normal life" after several days of vacationing at the beach in Port Aransas and Corpus Christi. Christina and I had a great time and I think we got some good shots during this trip. I will be sharing a few of my favorites that I took over the next few days on my blog page so stay tuned..........

First up are a few from the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi. I enjoyed the whole aquarium but my favorite part was the dolphins. I LOVE dolphins and could have stayed at this exhibit for the whole entire time!!!! Maybe someday I will get to swim with the dolphins again like I did at Cozumel a few years ago.

Lake Fork Birds

  • We have recently discovered a family of wood ducks that are living in our cove on Lake Fork. They consist of the Daddy, Mommy and ELEVEN little adorable babies! We went out late this evening looking for them but apparently Mommy and Daddy had put them to bed already down in a hollowed out tree. I got some pictures of the parents but those babies didn't come out for anything! I will keep watching for them though. I also got a few shots of a blue heron and a egret.
